In 2005 Chesapeake Bay Magazine readers selected York River Yacht Haven as the 3rd best marina on the Chesapeake Bay. The River's Inn Restaurant is located here, and fresh catches are available every season of the year. York River Yacht Basin provides a nice view of Sarah's Creek and the York River. There are 300 boat slips, a marina store, restrooms and fueling facilities available here.
Severn River Marina Hayes, Va http://www.severnrivermarina.com For the boater who wants to dock closer to Mobjack Bay, the Severn River Marina, located on a a tributary of the Mobjack Bay, is a great alternative. For boats needing repair the marina has a 75 ton travel hoist, full service repairs and maintenance. Visit the ship's store, dock at one of the 52 wet slips which include pump outs and water and metered electricity, or use the dry storage. Rest room facilities have showers. A crab deck which overlooks the water is available for cookouts and picnics. The Severn River Marina provides boaters access to Mobjack Bay and the York River.
Holiday Marina 3143 Holiday Marina Road, Gloucester 804-642-2528 Boaters can find gas and diesel fuel at this marina. Other amenities include restrooms, a full service boat yard, and 38 transitory boat slips. There is York River Access from the Holiday Marina, too.

Directions: About 7 miles west of Williamsburg. At Lightfoot, next to the Outlet Mall, turn down Centerville Road, which is Route 614. Go 4.3 miles to Route 633, Jolly Pond Road. This road becomes Bush Neck Road, which dead-ends at the farm. Open: Mid April - mid November; 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday-Saturday. Also, School tours May 1-November 10. Picnic area.
Williamsburg Farmers' Market The Williamsburg Farmers' Market in Merchants Square. Winter markets Februrary 11, March 11 and April 8 from 8:30 a.m. - Noon. Regular season from May 6 through October 21, with 30 producer-only growers every Saturday, rain or shine, 8 a.m to 12 Noon. Holiday markets November 18, 25 and December 9 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.. The Market is located at 415 Duke of Gloucester Street in the heart of Merchants Square. Williamsburg Pottery Factory The saga of the Williamsburg Pottery is rooted in the American enterprise system. In 1938, James E. Maloney founded the business, making eighteenth-century saltglaze reproductions to sell at low prices. As time passed, Maloney added china and glassware, discounting prices so that shoppers would return. Bargain hunters soon flocked to the place and an amazing expansion was underway.
Now, the Pottery has mushroomed into 200 acres with 32 buildings an inventory of 70,000 items gathered from all over the world. When I was growing up everyone would go to "The Pottery" to do their shopping.

Our two boys would like to live here if we would let them. They never grow tired of it.

Go the first weekend or two. It is very crowded close to Halloween. Can be a little scary for kids under 8.
Virginia Marine Science Museum Va Beach The museum itself is a popular vacation destination, where children delight seeing sharks, whales, harbor seals and sea turtles up close. They also can touch all sorts of creatures in the Touch Tanks!
Children's Museum of Portsmouth Va The Children's Museum of Portsmouth is the largest children's museum in the state. It has more than 80 interactive exhibits and a planetarium.
Chippokes Plantation State Park in Surry, one of the oldest working farms in the nation. This state park has it all — camping, cabins, fishing, boating, Olympic size swimming pool — as well as a living historical exhibiit. Right across the river from Jamestown. You can take the free Jamestown ferry to get there.

First Landing State Park/ Seashore State Park www.dcr.virginia.gov/parks/1stland.htm The park offers a chance to explore a unique habitat featuring lagoons, large cypress trees and rare plants.
